2007 Camper Comments

After helping my daughter & her husband with a brand new baby & a 22 month old for the past 2 months, I needed a break. Mountain Stream was exactly the right place. Being only a couple of weeks before Christmas, we had Mountain Stream to ourselves. Even in winter it’s a wonderful place. Ron was always willing to answer our questions. The sound of the mountain stream right outside our window created a very peaceful environment. My husband and I will definitely come again!

Thank you so very much for the hospitality we experienced at Mountain Stream over Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning soon next hear. I can’t think of a better way to have closed out our camping year.

We certainly enjoyed our stay at Mountain Stream. Our campsite (#11) was right on the stream and we enjoyed listening to the babbling brook. The facilities (bathhouse) were spotless and the water was very hot for showers. Becky and Ron are very hospitable hosts and we appreciated all the work they did for our community Thanksgiving Feast. We can’t wait for our return in the spring! This RV park is a keeper!! Thank you!!

Thank you for sharing your “home”, family & Thanksgiving with us. We have started a new tradition, Thanksgiving at Mountain Stream. Our favorite home away from home. We’ll see you soon!

When I told my 10 year old son we were going to Mountain Stream campground, he asked if there was a pool. I told him they have no swimming pool. He asked about a playground and again I said no playground. He said he did not want to go because there is nothing for him to do. After three days here he is crying because he doesn’t want to leave. He loved playing in the stream and exploring. I am so glad because that is what I enjoyed doing when I was a kid camping with my parents 40 years ago when there were no swimming pools at campgrounds. Thanks for a wonderful time. See you again soon.

Super campsite! Very clean and accommodating. Beautiful scenery – stream and trees (in fall) awesome!! Definite return visits!!
Bruce & Cindy Swayne Goldsboro, NC Site 09 11/23/2007
The cleanest, neatest campsite we ever stayed at. The scenery is gorgeous & the creek, right out our door is pristine. It’s so quiet & peaceful. Check out the brilliant colors just before Thanksgiving. Ron & Becky have an infectious positive attitude that rubs off on all the campers. If you’re here on Sunday, don’t miss church services at the quaint chapel just a pleasant stroll from the campsite. This is definitely a family-oriented, Christian-run campsite. Thanks for the memories.

For our first camping experience it was wonderful here at Mountain Stream. It was very quiet and peaceful. The stream behind our site put us to sleep at night. We look forward to coming back soon.

First let me say that Ron & Becky were so very nice & always ready to help with anything we needed (directions). The camp sites were all so clean & pretty. We didn’t use the showers, but we did check them out while we were walking around & I could not believe how clean they were & they had heat☺. We went to relax & get away from everyday life for a while & that’s just what we did thanks to Ron & Becky. Oh and we were close to all the attractions we wanted to see. We are ready to go back. Thank you Ron & Becky for making our trip so relaxing. Hope to see you soon!

Of all 5 campsites that we have stayed in from our travels from Wisconsin. Mountain Stream is the BEST. Very clean, hot showers & Beautiful sites.

Coming to Mountain Stream is like coming home. Ron & Becky treat you like your family. I would invite you to come to Mountain Stream. If you need to get away from every day life, this is the place. It is so peaceful, quiet and beautiful here. Everyone is so friendly. The fishing is great also. The Saturday night dinner & singing is wonderful. My personal favorite is the 4th of July. They have fireworks and it is beautiful. This is one RV park you don’t want to miss! We love it here!

We have been camping for about 1-1/2 years in our camper. We have been here 5 times. We enjoy our stay very much. This is a very pleasant & nice campground. Ron & Becky, you both have always been very nice and can always answer any question we may have. We think this campground is super and we have told many people & friends & family and some have come to stay. We will keep coming back. Thanks for your kindness.

What a blessing! We found Mountain Stream RV Park by mistake. We are very glad we did. Ron and Becky Johnston are the sweetest people. They make you feel at home, like friends you’ve known forever. The park is immaculate, very clean and homey. If you get a chance to visit then – DO! We plan to visit again.

My wife and I have been on the road since early August (14,000 miles), been from home to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and stayed in a lot of RV Camps along the way. We chose to stay here last night based upon your description in the Good Sam Directory and are glad we did. Now, we wish we had a couple of more days to just “hang out” and relax, but after three months we’re a little homesick. Your place is wonderful. The grounds, and facilities are impeccable. The quiet and tranquility is disturbed only by the babbling stream makes for a relaxing setting. Your WiFi is also great. On the downside, we suggest you try to get some sort of cable TV for after dinner and/or rainy days. Should we pass this way again, I certainly would look forward to staying here, and would recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful facility. Very clean. This has been one of the best maintained campgrounds we have been at in our trip so far of 10,000 miles. Good Work – our praises to you.

This is our second trip to this campground and enjoyed it just as much as the 1st time. This is a quiet and peaceful place where everyone we talked to is just like family. We brought some friends with us this trip (Maxine and Chris Alexander) and they both had a great time at the campground and listening to the creek at night while sitting by the fire. Anyone who stays at Mountain Stream will have a good time and will come back to stay again just like we will. Thanks for having such a great campground.

We have been living in our 5th wheel at least 6 months per year for the last 5 years, so we’ve seen a lot of campgrounds. Your’s is one of the prettiest, but the bathrooms & showers are by far the cleanest and nicest! This is high on our list of places to return to. Thanks.

As we pulled up in front of the office, Ron met us to assist in parking our RV as we are new to this phase of life. We can’t speak highly enough of Ron & Becky and their “prettiest little park this side of Heaven.” They made us feel welcome and were very accommodating. Thanks again for a most memorable & enjoyable week in the mountains!

This is a beautiful campground. Becky and Ron are very nice owners and helpful with surrounding info. Not having access to a phone or TV was great, we were able to enjoy nature and the companionship of each other. We enjoyed the gospel music on Saturday and the church service on Sunday. Thanks for all your work and efforts. We will definitely be back. The setting is beautiful!!

I am curious regarding what happened to Tom & Jo. We (my family) did not get to Mountain Stream in 2006, so any announced news we missed. Mountain Stream remains one of my family’s favorite campgrounds. Thank you for making it such a wholesome, clean and safe place to enjoy God’s beauty in nature.

Your campground is very clean but small. I did not find this campground very inviting. I thought the staff was nosy & unfriendly. You might want to consider making this an adult only campground. Seems like you do not like kids. We will not be back!!

As usual, Ron & Becky were outstanding hosts! The park is always clean, the grounds manicured and the bath house spic-n-span! We enjoyed the Saturday night concert and although we missed the park-wide covered dish supper, it sure smelled good! It’s hard to describe the family atmosphere that surrounds this park. It feels like home whether it’s your 1st visit or your 5oth! Thanks again Ron & Becky for being such a blessing to our family. We look forward to our next visit!

We had a wonderful stay at Mt. Stream. We didn’t have a chance to meet Ron, but Becky was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The campground is so peaceful and quiet, it was perfectly relaxing. It is also beautifully landscaped with spacious, level sites. As earlier review mentioned, it had the absolutely cleanest, nicest bathhouse we have ever seen anywhere!! The only thing that I could think of that would make the campground any nicer would be if there were playground equipment and/or a fenced “off-leash” dog walk area where our high-energy dog could get some playtime and “meet his neighbors” (the other dogs). Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

My wife, Susan, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mountain Stream RV Park the weekend of October 5-7. Thank you so much for providing such a beautiful setting and maintaining a Christian & family atmosphere. Our Senior Pastor, Manning Strickland, and his wife Ann camped there earlier this summer and told us about the campground. It is definitely a place we will want to return to again and again.

We slept soundly to the sound of the water flowing behind our camper. Several days we cooled our feet in the stream while reading. One of the most relaxing & beautiful campgrounds we’ve visited. Quiet, clean, friendly. We will definitely return over a weekend to catch the potluck & entertainment. We’d like to bring grandchildren – any chance of a small playground?

A beautiful campsite! Well laid out w/many nice clean amenities. Most importantly personal attention to the campers’ needs from owners Ron & Becky. We are grateful to you for helping us turn our bad experience w/our vehicle vs the mountain into a comfortable and pleasant experience by the mountain stream. If we’re ever this way again and in need of a place to stay, we’ll check in. May God bless.

Mountain Stream is the most beautiful campground I’ve ever been to. My husband and I camp to rest and get away. We enjoy quiet. So many campgrounds are “kid magnets” with water slides, pools, putt putt and that’s fine is you like to play. But if you want quiet, beauty, peace, select entertainment then Mountain Stream is the perfect place to be. And Ron & Becky are like family. Such great God fearing people. We can’t wait to come back.

Since this was our first mountain camping trip and we are new to camping (6 mos.), we didn’t know what to expect. What we got was one great experience. We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. From doing nothing but sitting by the stream to exploring attractions, we have had fun. This is a very relaxing place and it is contagious. We hate to leave but we know we are returning, not only in Oct. but hopefully many times in the future. Both of you have been very good hosts and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Owner’s Comment: When we started putting camper’s comments on the website, we committed to publish all the comments we receive – good or bad. We received the following rather scathing comment below so we’ll publish it, but we’ll also include our comments.
Site31_001H
Back in July we received a routine inquiry from this lady regarding availability & prices. Access to the stream seemed to be of particular interest. The standard reply was given for the differences between prime stream and standard stream sites – prime stream sites are generally larger and directly on the water’s edge while standard stream sites tend to be smaller and have a low berm at the rear of the site between the site and the stream. Later she made an on-line reservation for a standard stream site – there were still prime stream sites open at that time so the $2.00 per night additional for a prime stream site was apparently more important than easy access to the stream.

Shortly after arrival, they asked to be moved to a prime stream site because it was difficult for the wife to get to the stream. However, all of the prime stream sites that were available when they made their reservations were now booked. Later the husband came back again and said that the site was so terrible that to get their motorhome level they had to raise the front wheels off the ground and they had to be moved to a prime stream site or they would leave. This was all very strange because no one else had ever had such problems. As you can see below the 35′ motorhome (same size as these folks’ rig) that is currently on this site is sitting quite level with all wheels on the ground and awnings and slides out. However, since we were not willing to throw someone off a prime stream site to accommodate them, they left on the second day.

Normally, we don’t make refunds to folks who just decide to leave early. This is because when we make a reservation, we take that site off the market for the dates it was reserved – even when it means, as it was it this case, turning others away. However, we made an exception in this case and refunded half of the reservation fee.

While they said nothing about it while they were here, these folks apparently also had a problem with our policy of asking our campers to use the graveled areas for their dogs to do their business in rather than the grassy areas where children play. We consider ourselves pet friendly and well over half of our campers bring their pets camping with them. Until now, no one ever seemed to think this was an unreasonable request – especially those families with children.

These folks aren’t likely to come back to Mountain Stream again and we feel bad about that. We try to accommodate our guests in every way possible, but there will be a few that just can’t be satisfied.

I was looking for your site to post comments regarding your campground. I guess you post the email you would like under camper comment. So I am sure this one will not be posted.

In August we made a trip to the Western Part of North Carolina. We made reservations at your campground for ten days. We had researched the campground with Good Sam’s, your internet and by a phone call to you.

I called to find out the difference between the prime stream and the stream. I was told the prime stream was right on the creek and the stream was about 5 to 6 feet from the site. Based on this information we chose the stream. The park also stated it was pet friendly.

At the site we had to back in at an angle as the tree on the right site barely cleared the top of the RV. We had to back way back so we could put out the awning without hitting the tree on the right site. The site was so unleveled that we had 3 inch blocks under the leveling jacks and the jacks were extended as far as they could be. Our front wheels were off the ground in the front about two inches. The sites and drive areas were graved. We were told not to allow pets on the grass area or to not to allow them to do their busy on the grass, only on the gravel. The stream that was suppose to be 5-6 feet from the site was at least that far and went up on a hill that was about 3 feet. Then you had to go down the other side of the hill and go another 5 to 6 feet to the stream. That is if you could get to it by fighting your way pass the brush and overgrown area.

Needless to say we were very disappointed as we feel both the answers to our phone call and your website had misrepresented the sites. On top of all this, the leveling was a major problem. I have a disability and with the RV so high up, my husband had to stand behind me and give me a push to get up the first step. I did appreciate the fact you tried to provide something to make the step not so high. However, the site was not accessible due to my disability.

We felt based on the fact it was not accessible to someone with a disability, your camp sites are not pet friendly and the misrepresentation of the site, we should have been allowed a fund refund except for the night we stayed there. Based on your information it should not have been a problem to have rented the site again. I realize this is “a lesson learn” on our part. I am sure there is a place to report campground that do not meet at least the minimum standards of accessibilities for those with a disability. Once I find the proper channel to report this, I can assure you I will. I think it is important for people to know the correct information before making a reservation so they will not loose money or have to stay somewhere that doesn’t meet the needs of their customers. I also think the solution you gave of only half the money back was unacceptable. We left because it was not accessible to me. Otherwise, we would have stayed the full time and would have known to mark your campsite off the list of places to stay.

We were lucky enough to find a small, nice quiet campground in Morganton. It was accessible, level, more pet friendly, larger site and even cost less than Mountain Stream. We have already made reservations with them for the spring of 2008. The people were very friendly. It really is the kind of place we like to stay.

Mountain Stream is everything the website says it is and more! Beautiful, serene, peaceful, spotlessly clean – I could go on. We spent 5 days here, using Mountain Stream as our “home Base” and taking great day trips to all the fun destinations close by. The prettiest little park this side of Heaven. Don’t let the few miles of winding mountain roads leading to Mountain Stream RV Park dissuade your visit. WOW! Your park is magnificent. We agree it is “The Prettiest Little Park This Side of Heaven.” It is well maintained, clean, secluded, safe and camper friendly. It was so relaxing to listen to the rushing stream. Ron & Becky are undoubtedly exceptional hosts. They went out of their way to ensure our stay (and our 5 chihuahuas) would be most memorable . . . and they succeeded. We would stay here anytime and would highly recommend it to anyone. Thanks so very much Ron and Becky.

We were even able to buy ice a 9:00 at night & with a smile. We think this should be the park of the year and we will be back as soon as we get a chance.

What a Gem! The Woodall’s guide does not do this campground justice. The sites are well spaced & pleasant, especially along the stream. Speaking of the stream – it’s a great foot cooler. Northerners like us – come on down y’all!

P.S. Becky & Ron are the perfect hosts. Thoughtful, informative & kind.

Just a quick e-mail to let you know we really enjoyed the campground. My kids and their friends loved the stream, and we met so many nice people in the park. My only regret is that we didn’t stay a full week. (August 2nd – August 5th).

Super! Ron & Becky were Great! One of the cleanest RV parks we have ever stayed in. Well managed. We came for a quiet and relaxing weekend and that is exactly what we got. Listen to the stream on the web site – that is what you hear all the time. People were friendly and nice. I will be back soon!

This was our first time camping and we are really glad we picked Mountain Stream for our first experience. You have a beautiful campground and our family loved living right beside the creek, even if only for a few days. The bathroom facilities were so clean and neat. Everyone was very friendly and always available to answer any questions. Thank you Ron & Becky for a very memorable first camping trip. We will definitely be back soon.

This is a beautiful campground! Everything stated on your website is absolutely true. This was our first time camping (without our parents!) and the experience has been wonderful. Everyone was very friendly & helpful and provided us with a lot of good advice and suggestions. We especially liked the Sat. night covered supper! We both said if we owned a campground, this is how we’d want it to be! Thanks, we will definitely return again!

The park is absolutely beautiful. Everything is kept so clean. The kids love playing in the creek! We have been coming to the park for two years now and still love it as much as our first visit. The activities planned for the weekends are a lot of fun for the kids and adults alike. It is the most relaxing vacation spot we have found so far.

We loved the quiet family atmosphere! You have created a beautifully landscaped park. We stayed in one of your prime stream super sites & it was worth the extra cost. Our site was spacious & we really enjoyed it. We took lots of photos to show our camping friends back home. We would highly recommend your RV park to anyone that loves camping in the mountains. Thanks for a memorable vacation!

Mountain Stream certainly lives up to its name slogan “Prettiest Little Park This Side of Heaven”. The manicured grounds, the beautiful stream, and the surrounding countryside does make this an outstanding RV park. We felt “at home” here immediately. We can certainly recommend this as an RV destination.

Hope all is going well. Just wanted to drop a line to you all to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your park. All of the reviews mention things from how clean the bathrooms are to how nice you all are. We can truly agree with all of them. It is the best!! Our son had a great time. He really liked the creek/stream. Heck, the rock tumbler is currently polishing some of the rocks he found there. Thanks for the fireworks too!! We had a chance to meet Charlie and his wife. Just like your park—class act!! We hope to get a chance to visit again. (June 30th-July 4th).

I Just arrived back in hot and steamy Jackson, MS today after seven wonderful days in your RV park. Your theme of “Prettiest Little Park This Side of Heaven” is very descriptive of your park. My wife, Wanda, and I really enjoyed both the park and the wonderful people we met there. We also enjoyed the pot luck supper and the entertainment Saturday night. Your park was very pretty and extremely well kept and we enjoyed the stream that ran behind our campsite, no. 14. We look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future.

Thank you so much for a great place in the mountains. The campground was one of the cleanest I’ve ever stayed at. The people were so friendly and helpful. The creek is beautiful and so relaxing. The trees and pavilion lit up at night made for a lovely touch. We will most certainly come back again! The surrounding area & parkway is just beautiful.

This place is well worth the twisty drive up Hwy 80 (but thanks for the warning). We unhitched at Marion, left the RV at Food Lion, and drove the car up to check in. Our 31′ class C did fine. Once here, the park was everything we had hoped for our first few nights as full-timers: small, friendly, quiet, extremely clean, and beautifully landscaped.

Not to be Missed: *the monthly “country breakfast” at Carson’s Chapel, *the mocha blast at the Crooked Door Coffee Shop, *or the toffee bars and homemade fried apple pies at the Chocolatier downtown.

Mountain Stream is the kind of place we can comfortably call “home” after an outing to a gem mine or a drive along the Blue Ridge. The park is so clean and safe, especially with on-site owners and workampers. Each night, we opened our window to listen and fall asleep to the rushing water of Buck Creek, which also provided a cool relief from the heat and humidity of the day, as well as an adventure for our four little campers. We had a “super” site, which gave us plenty of room, and we enjoyed the swing and various decorations. We love the white lights in the trees and the flowers and bird houses near the park entrance. The dedication Ron & Becky have for their business shows – from the first reservation, to assisting guests, to park maintenance. We hope you do well, Ron and Becky, as we know that behind every great business are people willing to dedicate so much time and effort to them, as you do.

And where do you get all these friendly campers? Must be a requisite to camp here – – Grin. Always like the Sat. nite pot luck & entertainment. The Blairs were very good neighbors, but we are still hoping to see the Tom & Jo Show. Then there is the quiet here! We are country people so Mt. Stream is like home. There are so many things to say about this park I hardly know where to begin. First of all, I will say what a beautiful place it is – you want to just sit outside all day listening to the creek. The grounds are very well kept. The are clean and landscaped. The bathhouses were the cleanest i have ever seen. A lot of work goes into keeping this a wonderful park. This is a great place to come for some peace and quiet with your family. This was our first time here and Ron, Becky and all the camp workers really made us feel welcome. We enjoyed our weekend with you very much despite being scared out of my wits by the Nor’easter. Thank you for your attentiveness to us and for letting us leave the trailer there for a few days. Charles said we would have never gotten down that mountain with that thing on Monday. When we went by the lake that morning, it looked like the ocean – white caps all over the lake. We appreciate so much having a clean, well-maintained facility to camp and one we feel safe bringing our grandchildren to. We LOVE the gravel. We have been other places where a little rain turned into a muddy mess. We also appreciate being invited to worship at your church Sun. morning. We enjoyed that as well as Elton’s service there at the campground.
