2010 Camper Comments

Our visit to Mountain Stream Nov 25-28 2010 Thanksgiving weekend. Avery & I had a great time. We enjoyed the Thanksgiving lunch and the fellowship. The weather was cool, cold at times, but great. This is a great campground & we love coming here. Ron & Becky have done a great job. I’m hoping we can come back in 2011! Thanks Ron & Becky for your friendship & kindness. Ron & Becky, we had such a great time this weekend. We certainly enjoyed the covered dish on Saturday night and the singing was terrific. The kids in the park were so excited during the “trick or Treat” hour. Your park is so beautiful at any time of the year. We will be back. We will tell our friends who camp about your park and its peaceful surroundings. Thanks. (30′ 5th Wheel 10/29 – 11/01)

We truly had a great time in your camp site. First time we had ever been. You came highly recommend. Everybody we met was very nice. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a family oriented quiet get away. Very nice owners. Really neat having our camper back right up to river. We will be coming back. We have stayed a few times before and have always found this campground to be a wonderful place for enjoying the mountains. This time we had rain and lots of it. In spite of that, we had no puddles to jump and washing away of the ground beneath us. One more thing to love about this place. (25′ Travel Trailer 10/24 – 10/29)

Beautiful, well maintained park with excellent accommodations. Ron & Becky are very attentive and helpful. The limited availability and speed of the Wi-Fi are a slight concern, but, after all, we are camping. Really enjoyed our stay and plan to return to visit more of the many nearby attractions that we didn’t have time for this trip. (40′ 5th Wheel 10/20 – 10/24)

Our fall ritual this year was fantastic. We spent our 3rd consecutive annual trip enjoying cool, beautiful nights around the campfire and rode forever on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Site 30 was improved since our last visit & now has a wonderful upper deck/fire ring area where we spent hours watching & listening to Buck Creek flowing behind our campsite. Thanks again, Ron & Becky, for being wonderful hosts. We will see you again next October! (37′ 5th Wheel 10/17 – 10/23)

We love this campground and will continue to camp here as often as possible. This RV park is so nice and clean and with the pretty white gravel there is no dirt or mud to worry about. We met such nice campers from Daytona, FL and Greenville, NC who we really enjoyed talking with and getting to know. Just as we did, both of these campers found this perfect RV park on-line. This RV park is definitely a 10. Found nothing wrong. (24′ Travel Trailer 10/17 – 10/22)

Mountain Stream is one of the nicest campgrounds you will find anywhere. This was our second visit. one in the summer of 2008 and one in the fall of 2010. Both times were beautiful and friendly. It was a long haul from Daytona Beach to Mountain Stream RV Park, but well worth the time and distance. The park is well managed and maintained and our stay at Mt. Stream will be long remembered. The sound of the stream rippling past our site was therapeutic as was the overall quietness of the park. Our next door (site) neighbors were native North Carolinians and were very nice which contributed to our pleasant experience at Mt. Stream. The beauty of North Carolina surrounds you so at least for a short while you can pretend you’re in Heaven. (16′ Travel Trailer 10/17 – 10/22)

Cathy and I camped with you at Mountain Stream RV Park this past weekend, 10-8-10 to 10-10-10. In the rush of packing up we failed to leave an evaluation of our stay with you. Please accept this email as such. Everything you advertise on your website and brochures we found to be quite true. We had an exceptional experience in your beautiful RV park. It was quiet, relaxing, and well laid out with roomy sites…..our site being #7 on the beautiful, clear, noisy stream. The park, the restrooms, and the showers were neat and clean. We found both of you to be perfect owners/hosts. Saturday night we enjoyed the delicious food and fellowship at the covered dish supper. While lightly attended on this particular evening there was plenty of food for all. We were entertained by the Brothers Redeemed Quartet following supper and they were very good. While there was a chill in the air their warm spirits and testimony brought warmth to our hearts. This was our first visit to Mountain Stream, but certainly it will not be our last. We will return many times to enjoy this little piece of Heaven, as well as the beautiful mountains surrounding you. I see you have a Spring clean-up weekend for the park…..I will plan to be there if at all possible. Thanks again for a beautiful weekend. God Bless You Both. (19′ Travel Trailer 10/08 – 10/10)

A great campsite! Clean, very nice bathhouse, gravel sites, etc. Friendly. The trip on RT80 down from the Parkway is curvy but well worth it. (25′ Class C 10/07 – 10/08)

Note: we really don’t recommend coming down RT80 from the Parkway in an RV. The 5 miles between here and the Parkway is fairly steep and has a number of switchback curves up near the Parkway. But the 7 miles on RT80 coming up from US70 isn’t too bad. – Ron

We had a wonderful 7 days at Mountain Stream RV Park (MSRP). Your park is so quite, clean and well arranged to get RV’s parked. The Saturday night wiener roast and sing was great. The sound of the stream was so soothing and relaxing. While in the area we checked out 5 other campgrounds and none compared to MSRP, so we will return the next time we are coming to the area. Thanks for a great week. (28′ Travel Trailer 09/13 – 09/20)

We recently had to go from Atlanta to Elkton, VA, for a funeral. As there were going to be many family members there we took our small T@B camper and “camped” in my sister-in-law’s side yard. On the way home we decided to stop for the night at Mountain Stream RV Park. We found your park to be beautiful with well manicured landscaping, and extra clean bathrooms. We had a very peaceful and restful nights sleep listening to the stream as we dozed off. We especially liked the view from site 16 with the deck over the stream. Ron and Becky were wonderful hosts and Ron was especially helpful when I almost ran out of gas in my tow vehicle. We had our two Shih Tzus with us and they too enjoyed the mountain air and your beautiful campground. We look forward to returning soon when we can spend more time and enjoy some of your special activities. We highly recommend Mountain Stream RV Park! (16′ Travel Trailer 09/19 – 09/20)

We had a great week-end of rest & relaxation! It was so wonderful to be lulled to sleep by the stream in paradise! The campground is very neat and clean. We are very happy to have a travel trailer again so we may come more often. Ray would like to suggest trimming the hanging tree on the left as you round the turn coming into the office and possibly have badminton in the center field. See you in October. (32′ Travel Trailer 09/17 – 09/19)
Ray & Colleen Griffiths Weaverville, NC Site 09 09/21/2010
Owner’s Comment: We don’t prune the weeping cherry by the office any more because when we do, people tend to cut the corner too close and tear up the side of their camper by hitting the very large hemlock tree that lives next to the weeping cherry. This hemlock is 70′ tall or better and people don’t seem to see it unless they are looking up. When we leave the weeping cherry “shaggy”, people see it and swing wide missing the hemlock. The weeping cherry branches are very thin and flexible and don’t cause any damage to a camper if they are hit.

We agree that badminton in the center sounds like a good idea. But when we tried it a few years ago, it just didn’t work out. The equipment was pretty much destroyed in just a few days. So we decided that if folks wanted to play badminton, they can bring their own stuff – and many have.

We have been camping for over 35 years & this campground is the best that we’ve ever been at! You can see the care that the owners put into upkeep & the shrubbery & flowers that have been planted. We’ll be back with the grandkids when soccer & band activities are done. Keep up the good work. (21′ Travel Trailer 09/17 – 09/19)

We have stayed with you twice this summer and had nice experiences both times. We have also found new places to explore around the area. Wed would enjoy a fire ring in the center of the grass area to share time with other campers behind the pavilion. My husband and I stayed in your park last weekend in site #23…..Aug 27-29. I just wanted to let you know that the park is exactly the way your website described it. We really like coming to this campground. We do not get here often, but enjoy our time here. First time we were here the couple beside us asked if we were going to the covered dish social. Not having anything to take, we said no. Needless to say we ended up doing KFC, Mac & Cheese and bought a cake – not my style at all. This time I prepared ahead. Made my cake at home, brought a crock pot for pizza casserole. Also brought some refrigerator cucumbers. This is what I like to do. (24′ Travel Trailer 08/06 – 08/09)

We spent last week in your campground. I have to say it is one of the nicest campgrounds we have ever stayed at. I loved camping right on the stream, and the temp was much nicer than the heat in Orlando were we live. I hated to leave. Your campground was very clean and well maintained. I do wish the cell phones worked and you had a pool, but I understand there is nothing you can do about that. I will be recommending your campground to my friends, and hope to visit again next year. Nice, quiet and well-manicured campground. The location is a nice break from the heat and humidity of the July sun. We enjoyed the Sat. nite pot-luck and gospel music. Expect to see us again on a return visit. (32′ Class C 07/08 – 07/11)

Had a good relaxing stay. Sorry my new laptop downloaded four updates and used up most of your WiFi time. You should put in a new rule on your rule list that lets people know your WiFi is limited on time. Then you won’t have to get upset and knock on their RV doors and tell them you cut them off in what I think in a rude way. (21′ Travel Trailer 06/27 – 07/03)

Owner’s Comment: I need to respond to this because it is an issue we have to deal with daily. Our internet connection is by satellite through HughesNet. We have the most generous bandwidth plan they offer for business customers – 1200MB over a 24 hour period. This may sound like a lot, but it’s not when split up between 20 or more users. The penalty for exceeding this limit is being shut down for 24 hours. And on several occasions, we have been shut down because someone decided to download a movie, a bunch of music, 100’s of pictures, or let their new laptop download all of the updates from Microsoft. For this reason, EVERYONE is cautioned about the bandwidth limitations when they are given their userid and password for the WiFi. They are specifically asked not to download music or movies, play streaming videos or online games.

We monitor usage, but this is manual process that happens as time permits. On average, most folks use 20-40MB over a 24 hour period (some a little more, some a little less). So, even with 20 or 25 folks online, we have enough capacity with a comfortable cushion. However, when someone uses 150-200MB (or in this case 650MB) it can be a problem. Normally, we can identify a problem early enough that we can simply warn the person that they are using too much bandwidth and this is usually sufficient. But if not, we will disable their userid rather than let them make everyone else lose their internet access. However, sometimes a problem becomes really big before we are aware of it. Then we have no choice but to cut the person off immediately before any further damage is done. In this case, all the Micosoft updates put us right on the very edge of being shut down. We didn’t get shut down only because there had been relatively light usage from the others on the system. However, it was still necessary for us to turn off the system for a few hours until our 24 hr usage rate dropped.

These are nice folks who have been here a number of times and I feel bad that they think I was rude. I did go to them to tell them that I had disabled their userid and why. However, I didn’t think I was rude about it. I apologize if I was.

We stayed at Mountain Stream June 28-30, 2010 and loved it. It is the nicest and most peaceful campground we have been to. We have found our home away from home and plan to go back as much as possible. We drove to Marion on Wednesday night to see and hear Preacher Dean Silver who was the pastor we came to Christ under his preaching 37 years ago. Seeing him and his precious wife, Carolyn, made the stay so much more rewarding. We also met some very nice people in the park. We really wanted to stay longer than we reserved but our site was already taken. We stayed on site 23 and loved it. All the sites are very nice. (24′ Travel Trailer 06/28 – 07/01)

We really enjoyed our stay at Mountain Stream. The campsites were well don and the creek was very soothing. Butterflies galore with pretty flowers too. You provided a very “at home” atmosphere and had everything we needed. If you needed the bath house, it was clean and fresh. A real highlight was the Saturday night southern gospel singing by Brothers Redeemed – fabulous! We’ll definitely visit again; thanks for a great 5 days! (30′ Travel Trailer 06/24 – 06/28)

We have been coming to Mountain Stream Campground for several years. It is a very clean and well maintained park. It is quiet and sure is relaxing with the stream nearby. The restrooms were the best. We have recommended this place to friends and they loved the grounds too. We rate this as our favorite and our #1 campground. Ron & Becky, you’re #1 too. Thanks. This is perhaps one of the nicest RV parks we have ever stayed in – waking up in the morning and looking out of our rear living room window at the beautiful creek is something I have only seen in magazines! How wonderful! It is sooo quiet here and the grounds are so well kept! I love the flowers you have everywhere! We wish we would have found this when our boys were younger. They would have loved the creek and basketball court! You have done a wonderful job! We hope to make it back here next year on vacation. Thanks. (30′ Travel Trailer 06/15 – 06/19)

This is our 2nd time staying at Mountain Stream RV Park. We stayed 5 nights here and this RV park is so beautiful and quiet. The neighbors were friendly. Ron & Becky are very friendly and helpful. They have a lot to keep this RV park very nice. WE JUST LOVE IT HERE! We will be back next year. Take my advice and stay and you’ll keep coming back. The boys had a wonderful time fishing in the creek as well. *One thing that I personally would like to see here is a washer & dryer so we wouldn’t have to go into town. (Pop-Up 06/13 – 06/18)

Owner’s Comment: We really would like to put in laundry facilities for our campers (and ourselves). However, because we are a commercial facility and our close proximity to the stream, the local regulations make it unfeasible. We aren’t allowed to hook into any of our existing septic systems (we have five) for the laundry facilities. For just two washers, we have to put in two additional 1500 gallon septic tanks with a filtration system between the tanks and six 150′ runs. Even if the cost wasn’t prohibitive, there physically isn’t enough room to install such a system.
We had a wonderful time camping here. Our boy had a great time in the river catching fish. The bathrooms are so clean; it’s like being in someone’s home. It’s a beautiful campground, there are so many things to look at. We will be back. (Pop-Up 06/10 – 06/15)

We have completed a ten day stay at Mt. Stream RV Park and are pleased to report that it’s still our favorite camping park. Between our first stay last year and this year’s visit, we travelled to California. During that trip, we found only one, possibly two, RV parks that even compare to Mt. Stream’s clean restrooms, attractive parking areas and the relaxing sound of running water from the creek. (30′ 5th Wheel 06/04 – 06/15)

We came here for 3 days and stayed a week. It was a very quiet, well-kept campground. The owner went out of his way to answer questions. He provided a map and labeled local restaurants which was so helpful. We stayed by a little babbling stream with little fish which was so relaxing. This campground was the perfect place to explore the areas on/around the Blue Ridge Parkway. We camped here in a travel trailer. (28′ Travel trailer 06/07 – 06/14)

Our family has camped at many places in western North Carolina over the years and none of us can think of a private campground that we love more. I guess that’s what’s kept us coming back for the last decade and why a second generation of our family joined us in their own camper on our last trip. The grounds and facilities are meticulously maintained, the surroundings are beautiful and Ron & Becky always go out of their way to make campers feel welcome. (16′ Travel Trailer 05/27 -06/01)

How refreshing to be in an RV park that is so neat. The landscaping is very much unusually great. The bath house is remarkably nice. What a relief to be in a campground without drunks with loud noises. Oh how good it is to have God here with us. You can feel his presence in everything. Only one thing that could be negative is the vegetation as you enter the highway-obstructs the view of the road. (25′ Travel Trailer 05/28 – 06/01)

My dad asked me last night if this was a nice campground – without even thinking about it, I said “I think this is the nicest private campground we’ve ever been to”. Now that I have time to think about it, that’s still true. Beautiful! Sites are well spaced, well landscaped & everything is spotless. We enjoyed our stay at Mountain Stream RV Park. The bathroom facilities were extraordinarily clean and the curtains providing privacy between show stalls was an extra plus! The cleanliness of the campground and landscaping were great. We like to travel and sight-see, so the central location to many area attractions was wonderful. The wi-fi hookup was great and easy to access. Being a smaller campground, we felt safer here more than any other campground we have stayed at. The stream was beautiful and the sounds it provided were very calming and therapeutic. The next time we visit the mountains, this WILL be our campground of choice. (Slide-In Camper 05/20 – 05/22)

What a lovely beautiful campground. The sites are wonderfully maintained and level. The campground is well maintained and beautifully landscaped. The bathrooms were well maintained and clean. The full hookups are wonderful. The kids loved the stream/campground. We want to thank Ron for his help. The area is close to nearby attractions. We came back in the evening to the wonderful sound of the water in the stream. I don’t think I have ever seen such a well kept campground. if you are looking for a relaxing, friendly campground, this is it. The campground sites are large and easy to back into.
