Very well
maintained with most reasonable rates. The scenery is
outstanding. Most of the campsites have a stream with
crystal clear water flowing behind them. It is one of the
best campground/RV park we have stayed at on our trip across
the U.S.

We have
been camping here for 4 years. We were extremely pleased on
the first visit, but upgrades have continued to be made that
just keep making our stays more enjoyable. There is not a
bad site here. The combination of the stream around this
small, extremely well laid out campground and its location
along the NC mountains makes it the perfect home base. It
truly is "The Prettiest Little Park This side of Heaven." (30'

Karen and
I left camp early this morning and enjoyed our stay very
much. Your campground is the cleanest that we have ever
stayed in! The restrooms and showers are spotless. The
camping spots are a little close together for my tastes, but
were very comfortable. The picnic tables are very nice.
I doubt
that we will return, however. The absence of cellular
service is not good for either of us. I had an emergency
this weekend involving the death of a lawman back home and
had to ride to town in order to get cell service. That, and
the slow internet service is a turnoff. I understand your
concern about bandwidth use but I really think that locking
out Facebook is overkill. All in all we had a very nice
time. Your location is excellent for the rides we want to

Comment:
Cell phone service (or rather the
lack of it) and restraints on Wi-Fi usage are the two main
concerns we hear about from campers. This is important to some
folks, so I'll address them one more time.
First, we are in the mountains in
the middle of the Pisgah National Forest. There is no cell phone
service here and likely never will be. Not much we can do about
it. The nearest place to get cell phone reception is at the
bottom of the mountain (about 5 miles away). There is a phone in
the park for campers to use (long distance calls require a phone
card) and the park office phone is always available for
emergency incoming or outgoing calls.
Second, the free Wi-Fi access that
we provide comes in by satellite. There are usage limits with
the satellite link, but this is the only means of
internet access up here - DSL, cable or T1 lines are simply not
available. We have the most generous bandwidth plan that
Hughesnet offers to business customers. This is sufficient to
provide internet connections for 30 - 50 users at average usage
levels. Even on weekends when we are full, we don't have more
than 20 - 25 Wi-Fi users, so there is plenty of capacity. Even
so, we still experience occasional system shutdowns (this is
what happens when we exceed our usage limit). When this happens,
no one (including the office) has internet access for 24 hours.
This year these shutdowns were occurring more and more
frequently. We were able to determine that most of the excessive
usage was caused by people using Facebook. We had no choice but
to block access to Facebook - and since we blocked it, there
have been no more shutdowns.
We work very hard to provide folks
with a clean, quiet, attractive place to come and relax. But we
also try to provide whatever amenities we can like 50 amp
service, Wi-Fi, and cable TV (we actually had to become a small
cable company to do this). But there are some things we just
have no control over. Those folks who just can't live without
cell service or Facebook for a few days probably should look for
a campground that's not in the mountains. |

We've
found Paradise! - Don't tell anybody. We thoroughly enjoyed
camping at Mt. Stream R. V. P. Such an immaculate,
beautifully groomed park without any commercialism, just a
very available office & basics store. We slept with our van
back door open, lulled to sleep by the rushing shallow
stream 15' away from us. Rules are strictly enforced for the
well being of all with appreciation for compliance. Dog park
has a fake fire plug and owner bench in shade. We enjoyed
playing in the creek and an attempt a fly fishing. What a
way to escape the "triangle" heat wave! (21' Class B 07/18 -

decided to take a last minute trip & called & it just so
happened we got the very best site available (only because
there was a cancellation). We had never been here & didn't

playing in the creek & everyone was so welcoming. This
campground is perfect for families that want some quiet
family time. We felt safe letting our children play around

Mountain

Marion. The park is spotlessly clean and extremely well laid
out. The sites are spacious, level, and very well manicured.
Many creek-front sites have comfortable decks that provide a

Owner's
Comment:
These folks had a couple of mobile
devices that could connect to wireless networks. Apparently one
of them had an application installed that tried to download a
large amount of data whenever it connected to a wireless
network. Whether this was a legitimate application or a virus is
unknown, but the users said that they hadn't tried to download
anything. In any case, legitimate or not, a big hunk of
bandwidth was sucked up within the first hour that they were
here. I spoke to them about it and they turned their devices off
and there were no more issues the rest of the evening. However,
the next day they used 241 Mb in a short period of time and we
had to disable their access to the system.
This weekend the park was full and
we had 32 users on the Wi-Fi system. Average use for 31 of these
users over the 3-day weekend was 24 - 28 Mb per user per day.
This represents about 70% of our allowed usage. When the 32nd
user uses another 20% of our allowance in a very short period of
time, we must take appropriate action.
We truly regret any inconvenience
this caused them, but Hughesnet limits the amount of bandwidth
we can use and if that limit is exceeded, they shut us down for
24 hours. We simply can't allow a situation where one user
causes everyone to lose their internet access. |
|
|
We
thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Everything was clean and
neat. We felt we have privacy. The noise level was really
low. We felt safe. I left my purse on the chair outside 1

It's hard
to say enough good things about Mountain Stream RV Park. The
owners, Ron & Becky, have worked hard & smart in working all
the details out to make this a true park, not just a place
to park your RV. The first thing you notice is the beautiful
landscaping; both the plantings & grassy areas surrounded by
the natural beauty. The park itself is in a narrow mountain
valley with trees everywhere. Beautiful Buck Creek flows
swiftly by two sides of the park. A very nice pavilion has a
small stage for entertainment on Saturday evenings with a
covered dish dinner before the show. It's all low key & very
pleasant. We are new to RVing & this park makes us feel good
about RVing. We plan on returning many times. Thanks for
such an exceptional place.

The
campground is very beautiful & well-kept. But we were very
disappointed in your "no grassy area" pet rule. We think
it's absurd & excessive. It is a campground, after all not a
hospital. Usually, if pets are allowed, common sense and
personal responsibility by pet owners are fine. I would
suggest you create a designated grassy pet area. (25' Travel Trailer 04/07 -

Owner's
Comment:
Our "please don't let your dogs
pee or poop in the grass" policy came about as a result of a
number of camper complaints about dog poop on their sites and
kids getting dog poop on their clothes while playing in the
center area. Contrary to the camper's comments above, common
sense and personal responsibility are not traits all pet owners
possess! Even now, we still have to go around the park regularly
cleaning up dog poop that "responsible" pet owners have left
behind. But at least now most of it is in gravel areas instead
of the grass. Even when pet owners do clean up after their pets,
there is still some left behind in the grass (especially when
it's soft or runny) and it does get on shoes or clothes when
children play! I don't believe the people who think it's
necessary that their dogs be able do their business where ever
they want to would feel that way if it was their child or
grandchild who came back to the camper smeared with dog poop.
A secondary reason for the policy
is the fact that dog urine (especially from females) kills the
grass. It leaves a dead spot that does not come back and must be
reseeded. The same goes for male dogs that pee on the plants and
shrubbery. Before we instituted this policy, the grassy areas on
the sites had more dead spots than grass and the grassy area in
the center was very unsightly. We spend a lot of time and money
reseeding and fertilizing each year. A number of times, the
gassy area on a site would be entirely destroyed in a single
weekend when campers allowed their dogs (usually tied up with
nowhere else to go) to pee in the grass. This did not lead to
many comments about how beautiful and well-kept the campground
was.
Now, having said that, we are
making arrangements for a fenced, off-leash area for dogs. This
will be at the west end of the center grassy area. We expect to
have everything completed by mid-June. |

The
comment on the ad "Prettiest Little Park This Side of

maintained. The bathhouses could not be any cleaner. It is

this park is our favorite. The only downside is - we didn't
want to go home. The hosts, Ron & Becky, are more than
helpful. They are wonderful people. If you go once, we
promise you will go BACK! We absolutely love -

While
we've always enjoyed staying here, we are thrilled that
since we were last here, you now have Wi-Fi and TV service.
It was great to be able to watch the NCAA Tournament as well
as having access to news and weather. We also appreciated
that we can check e-mail and surf the web. We also commend
you for the immaculate campground that is well maintained as
well as clean. Lord willing, we will be back! Oh, and the
new picnic tables are the best we've ever seen in any
campground. You've done a great job! (36' 5th Wheel 03/17 -
